books for the outdoorsy toddler

We’ve found that reading books to our kids about the outdoors has helped inspire excitement for any family outdoor activity. We put together this list of our favorite books that have helped teach our kids about so many things: animals, plants, seasons, the sun and moon, camping, fire safety, bugs, colors, hiking…the list goes on and on!

I Am A Bunny is a true classic! This is our daughter’s favorite book. It’s a great story to introduce the seasons and plenty of animals. It is our top recommendation for any infant or toddler.

A Camping Spree with Mr. Magee is a perfectly rhymed storybook that follow’s Mr. Magee and his dog on a wild camping adventure. It has beautiful, bright images, and the story offers a great way to inspire kids to get ready for camping trips.

Curious George Goes Camping teaches about fire safety and why little ones shouldn’t wander off into the woods without mom and dad!

I Am A Mouse is our daughter’s favorite book about tiny animals and critters in the fields and woods. She loves to point out the bees, butterflies, and the shy lizard hiding beneath the leaves.

Good Night Campsite is a great book to read in the tent at night to help your kids fall asleep.

Do Princesses Wear Hiking Boots? is a cute, playful story that offers an important lesson about self-acceptance and encourages kids to follow their dreams. Plus, our daughter loves to hunt for the spiders and animals in the pictures 🙂
