Enhance Your Outdoor Sleep: Review of HEST Memory Foam Mattresses

Camping sleeping pads for adults and kids

Sleeping in a tent is officially just as comfortable as our mattress at home! These memory foam mattresses are hands-down the BEST camping mattresses we’ve ever used. They are the perfect combination soft and supportive. Plus, they pack a serious punch of insulation from the ground to extend our camping season well into the cold months.

Adults

  • Sleep system – this is the creme de la creme of mattresses. It’s more comfortable than our bed at home. It has the highest R-value of any of the mattresses making it a great winter pad, and it is great for rocky terrain. There’s no bottoming out on the foam and feeling rocks. Just straight up dreamy sleep.
  • Foamy – This is the pad on the sleep system but doesn’t have the inflatable pad on the bottom.

Kids

  • Kids foam mattress – shorter version of the regular size foam. Saves a bit of cost, but the same level of comfort. Adults can easily use a shorty if you don’t mind your feet being off the pad.

Quilts

  • Down comforter – This comforter is designed to wrap around the foot of the pad and keeps us cozy. It’s a nice option for kids (or adults) that do not like being bound up in a bag. It packs down perfectly to also use on backpacking trips too.

Here’s what we LOVE about these sleeping pads:

⛺️ All of HEST mattresses offer a minimum 3.9” of protection and insulation from the ground. The HEST sleep system (what Ash and Margaux sleep on) is 7″ thick and offers an extra drop-stitch base underneath the foam. The inflatable base is pretty rugged. We even saw someone floating down the Merced in Yosemite on this base this past summer.

🔥 The mattresses offer some of the highest R-values of portable mattresses on the market. The foamy has an R-value of 8.8 and the Sleep System is 11.8.

😴 HEST’s temperature resistant memory foam doesn’t get hard when temperatures drop which its crucial for staying comfy when it’s really cold out.

😴 The foamy also comes with connector clips on the side to make it easy to snuggle and not risk falling in the crack.
